Them Bad Boys ARE GONE
Bre did it...she finally got those huge, nasty tonsils of hers OUT!... We've been discussing the possibility of a tonsilectomy for over a year and finally decided it was now or never. She's been sick so much the past 18 months that we just had to do something. I didn't want her headed off to college knowing that she's gonna be sick every other week with strep on tonsilites.
She did pretty well...she'd been putting on a brave front for the past couple of weeks pretending that it was no BIG deal at all. She's had surgery before, had her gall bladder removed a couple years ago so she figured that she was an old pro...well let me tell you...when we got to the hospital Tuesday she changed her tune...She turned to her dad and said "I changed my mind...get me to hell out of here!"...Of course we did NOT comply. She was just fine after they gave her the pre-op drugs. Everything went well and we were back home by 4. Yesterday was a piece of cake for her...of course she was so drugged up that nothing really bothered her, she's really had very little trouble eating, keeping it to soft stuff but her appetite is definitely in tact. She's in alot of pain today and her throat looks absolutely disgusting but I guess that it's supposed to. She'll be out of school for at least a week and possibly two and will be staying at home while she recovers. She'll go back to Dexter when she's up to it. I'm loving having her home and will enjoy out time together even if it is because she's in PAIN...funny how she still wants/needs her mommy when she's hurting.
PS: When we got to the day surgery unit there was this very strange guy sitting there, he was telling the receptionist that he needed to talk to someone here, he didn't want to go back to the mental hospital in Bangor...he had his suicide note all written and needed to talk to someone NOW! Lots of extra security showed up and it was a little tense for a few minutes...Great way to start the day....
