Island Paradise

When we were growing up money was TIGHT. There were 4 kids, my mom was a 'stay at home' mom and my dad was often self-employed. We never went without essentials, we were always fed and clothed and had a warm roof over our heads but VACATIONS were definitely NOT in the budget. My dad has always taken care of camps around the area. One 'special' one was Keeps Island. He took care of it all thru my childhood and is still doing it now. As kids 'Keeps' was our vacation spot. When we were young we'd go as a family. Dad would leave the island in the morning to work and we'd spend the days there with my mother. My teen years is when it got REALLY fun. I'd go up there with my friends for a week at a time. Dad would drop us off and we'd settle right in playing house. It was always fun to cook at camp. We had a generator that would usualy break down on the first day but we really didn't care. We'd just bath in the lake, use the propane lights and flush the toilet with buckets of water. There were NO phones, televisions of computeres so we'd make our own fun. We had soo much fun. We'd sun bath topless during the days and go skinny dipping at night. Weather it was just 'the girls' or if we had guys with us it was always a fun time. I have alot of memories from Keeps Island. Some of them are even 'sober' memories. I read my first SMUTTY book at Keeps...LOL. Yesterday there was a fire on the island and the Main camp burned to the ground. I hadn't been up there for years but it still makes me very sad. Like a small part of my childhood is GONE. When I get hom I think I'll look thru pictures and see what I can find of my 'Island Paradise'.
