My Favorite Things

Scotty is doing his second 'annual' Christmas post of his "Favorite Things" and has invited anyone to join him.... So here goes!

Melody's Favorite Things

1. A happy child - yes this is probably the single most rewarding thing in my life, there is absolutely NOTHING else that can bring a smile to my face as quickly as seeing my children happy.

2. Memories of my mother - she's been gone for nearly 7 years now and I still miss her as much as I did the day after she died. I miss her every day. Christmas used to be HER holiday...all of our traditions revolved around her so it is only natural to miss her more this time of year. I cherish the memories that I have of her and as time has passed the memories make me smile more often then cry.

3. My niece Savannah - She died in 2002. Our last Christmas together was very special...she spent it trying to teach her mother and I how to do the BUTT dance...You'd think that with an ass the size of mine that I'd be good at that but NOPE...I wasn't.

4. The smell of hazelnut tea or coffee - it sooths me somehow...not sure why exactly but I love that aroma.

5. A quiet evening with my entire family just curled up in the living room watching stupid movies. The simplicity of it brings me comfort.

6. My husband - There is definitely something to be said for the comfort that can be found in his arms...I always know that, no matter what, he loves me...even when we are angry at one another there is never a question about our love.

7. Walking in a light snow storm - I just like it...that's all

8. The smell of a baby right after a bath - PURE HEAVEN

9. The feel of silk against freshly shaved leggs - of course mine are seldom freshly shaved...but??????

10. The smell of Old Spice - My grampy's favorite cologne

11. The sound of church bells - I'm not very religious but that sound it beautiful

12. Watching the sun rise over the lake - mmmmmmm beautiful

13. Smiling and making OTHER people smile

Well...There it is...Just a FEW of my favorite things

Plus One

We have a new addition to our family. My daughter's best friend has moved in with us. Her name is Christal and she is a 'hoot'. She is a senior this year and has already been sworn into the Army where she will be an MP, she leaves on July 12 for Missouri for Basic Training. This is somthing that she has wanted to do for a very long time...the only thing that can get in her way now is NOT getting her diploma so we are all pushing her to do well in school this year. Her moving in with us made it necessary for her to transfer to a new school system, which is not exactly BEST cast scenario but she seems to be adjusting well. She and Bre are very compatable and seem to bring out the best in one another...I hope that it stays that way. I'm glad that she is with us but, like with any change, it is taking some getting used to and I'm always a little nervous about the 'what ifs'. I try to not think too far ahead...to live in the day...but that's not always all that easy.
Oh yea....Christal also brought her CAT ozzie with her....just what I needed was another animal!!!!

Just a Few Funnies

GAMES FOR WHEN WE ARE OLDER
1. Sag, you're It.
2. Hide and go pee.
3. 20 questions shouted into your good ear.
4. Kick the bucket
5. Red Rover, Red Rover, the nurse says Bend Over.
6. Musical recliners.
7. Simon says something incoherent.
8. Pin the Toupee on the bald guy
Note from ME: How many of these to you have to play to be considered OLD?

SIGNS OF MENOPAUSE:

1. You sell your home heating system at a yard sale.
2. You have to write post-it notes with your kids' names on them.
3. You change your underwear after a sneeze.

Note to self: Buy more underwear...

OLD IS WHEN:

1. Going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.
2. You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.
3. Getting a little action means I don't need fiber today.
4. Getting lucky means you find your car in the parking lot.
5. An all-nighter means not getting up to pee!

Note from ME: God I'm ready for an all nighter!

Thoughts for the weekend:
Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctr+Alt+Delete' and start all over?
Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.
Aspire to inspire before you expire.
If raising children was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor!
Brain cells come and brain cells go, but fat cells live forever.
But Most Of All, Remember ...

A Good Friend Is Like A Good Bra: Hard to Find, Supportive, And Always Comfortable.

My wish for you is that you all have many a good "bras"
