Seven...From Julie

From Julie

1.) WHO IS YOUR HERO? That is a very hard question for me...Hero is such a hard word to define...I think that My husband is my hero...he dropped out of highschool the day he turned 18 and went to work full time. He got his diploma when our son was in second grade and then he went on to become a successful businessman. That makes me very proud of him...I'm not realy sure that HERO is the right word but he is as close as it gets for me.
2.) WHAT TALENT DO YOU WISH YOU HAD? I wish that I could be a good public speaker...I've always been scared to death to speak in public...even at a christmas party...or to tell a joke to a crowd..my knees get weak and I break out in a cold sweat as my face gets all red...it really sucks. I'd like to be comfortable in front of a crowd.
3.) WHAT MAKES YOU REALLY ANGRY? Being lied too. Being made to look like a fool.
4.) WHOM DO YOU TRUST THE MOST? My sister Terri, I would trust her with my life and I know that she feels the same way. This is one relationship that I am always SURE of.
5.) WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? Most people would be surprised to know just how shy I really am, unless they knew me as a child. I usually hide it fairly well now but I'm still that shy little wall flower of my youth!
7.) WHAT IS THE SMARTEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE? Said I DO in 1983...I can not imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't.

If you'd like to answer these questions...go for it...

My Wedding

This is My hubby and I on our wedding day, August 13, 1983. I was 19, he was 24 and we'd dated for only 6 months (no I was NOT pregnant). It was a very large, catholic wedding, the first on both sides of the family so everyone was there, about 300 guests, most of whom I didn't know. I cried thru the entire ceremony. Nobody had bothered to ask me if I was sure that I was ready to be married...well not until it was too late...My dad turned to me as the wedding march started plalying and said "Are you Sure honey?' At that moment the only thing that I was sure of was that I was too much of a coward to turn and run from that church. I didn't know if I was ready...I was so young...so inexperienced. I thought I was in love...but was it a marriage I wanted or a wedding...A white dress...A beautiful cake...A lovely party? Was I in love with my hubby....or just in love with the idea of being in love? I had no idea what a commitment marriage would be...how much work it was to make a marriage good. How long it would take to erase all doubt from my mind. I had no idea how difficult it would be to become part of his family (I'm still an outsider). He seemed to become a part of mine so easily. I did the only thing I could...I said I DO!

This is us now...22 years later. I am in love with my husband and I AM sure that I did the right thing. There were many difficult years...arguments....fears, we both had alot of growing up to do...we did it together. I'm still in love with the idea of being in love....I still struggle trying to be a part of 'his' family....I still wish that I'd been a bit older when I married....But I no longer doubt that we will be together forever. He is my destiny and I am his...of this I am sure!

I would recommend to both of my children to become their own person BEFORE they become part of a couple. I'd even tell them to live with someone before marrying them. I want them to both experience life with no responsibilities, except to themselves, before they have to face the reality of LIFE. I love my family with everything in me. They are My LIFE...they define me...I am so thankful that I was such a coward in 1983.

PS: That tuxedo is powder blue with a ruffled shirt...the 80's...YUCK!

Update

Here Goes....

Big Guy: He's all settled in on campus, he is getting along swimmingly with his new roomie, which is a surprise to me. My first impression of the kid was S-T-R-A-N-G-E... the kid had Anti-war posters on the walls along with abstract drawings of, god knows what, african figurines (he's white...with a very large afro) all over the place, some sort of African drum and plants... Well I thought to myself "no way is this gonna work". To my chagrin I was wrong, Big guy really likes him. He's settled in to all of his classes and is enjoying them, he's back to work at the "commons' 13-15 hours a week and is HAPPY! He's home this week end for a visit. It's very good to be able to give him a hug in person and not thru AIM.

Baby Girl: She started the school year out with Strep Throat...after getting that out of the was she's settled into school as well, struggling a bit with a couple of classes but quite honestly she really hasn't been very focused on academics...she's been holding auditions to fill the position of "boy-friend" There have been several qualified applicants but I believe that they may be called in for a second 'reading' before a final decision is reached. I hope that soon she settles down in that department too...then maybe she can get her head back in the books. She is also working 20ish hours a week, for now anyway, we'll see how the grades do.

Hubby: Some of you have expressed some concerns that I may have him locked in a room someplace...rest assured that that is NOT true. He's great...snores to god damned loud but other then that he's a great guy and I do let him out in public occassionally...when he's been an extra good boy. He is just getting over strep throat, but unlike kids, he had to keep working thru it, he's self employed and does NOT get sick days.

Gremlins: The gremlins in my office are starting to depart. I'm still trying to work out the email situation, I get every e-mail 23 times...yup 23!!!! but everything else seems to be working OK.

ME: I'm doing much better. My mood seems to have stablized a bit and I'm not crying at the drop of a hat any more....well I did have a day last week...but I'm choosing to block that from my memory right now. I actually tried on 6 pairs of jeans yesterday that I had put away because I couldn't breath once I put them on...and guess what? come on guess? Yup that's right every single pair not only fit....I could actually sit down and breath at the very same time. WHOO HOO FOR ME!

Car: Got it back after the Moose Accident...looked mighty purty...then I made the mistake of actually driving it someplace...got behind and asphalt truck which started throwing big pieces of asphalt at me...NO I WAS NOT TAILGATING, got hit on the hood...took the paint off right down to the medal...so it's back to the body shop to fix the friggen hood...I'm going to ask them if they can wrap it in bubble wrap for protection when they are finished with it this time.....

That'll have to do it for now....

Gremlins

I've never been a very superstitious person. I have no problem walking under ladders, I don't freak out if I break a mirror, I don't throw salt over my shoulder for luck or knock on wood. I swear lately though that there have been Gremlins in my office...not the cute furry ones....oh no the ones from AFTER they eat late at nite, the scary little critters!

I have spent the past 3 days trying to fix my computer, first the internet was moving so slowly that a snail could have won the race....then NONE of my web-sites were accepting uploads from me and then none of the office e-mails were working...30 of them...nothing. Well after being on the telephone with tech support, for what seemed like an eternity, I now get all those e-mails in my 'inbox"...how fucking fun....Came back from lunch and I had 372 to go thru...YUCK!!!!!

Then my copier decides to stop accepting anything bigger

then 8 1/2 x 11 paper...we use legal and ledger sizes on a daily basis...WTF...give me a damned break...

Wouldn't you think that that would be enough...not in my life. NEXT was the phone system...first it stopped letting us answer at all...if you didn't get it before the first half ring it went directly to voice mail...making the caller think that we were closed...then it locked us out of our voice mails completely. Again....an hour on the phone with tech support...it works, for a while anyway.

Maybe I should go back to this phone...carbon paper...pen and paper....life must have been so much easier then.

HERE'S to a better NEXT week!

I Just Might DRINK THEM ALL!

You've GOT to be kidding!

My son goes back to college on the 6th, he's been telling me that he's been packing for a week...well I made the mistake of going into his bedroom last night...WHOA...it looked like an explosion had gone off in there. He hasn't done a damned thing except get his towels and bedding out of the closet, where I had neatly stored them after washing them. He promised me that the room would be clean when he left...yeah RIGHT! I'm ready for him to go back, I'm sick of the 'anticipation' of him being gone...let's just get on with it PLEASE! I've been promised that he will be ready...we'll see...he may have no undies...or soap....or shampoo...but I'm sure his TV, COMPUTER, AND VIDEO GAMES will be ready to go. KIDS!!!!!
